Tooth-colored Fillings
At Dunes Dental Services, we work with different filling materials to provide you with the best options. Composite resins, or tooth-colored fillings, are a great choice for people who prefer their fillings to look more natural. They also provide good durability, they can reduce fractures in weaker teeth that sustain frequent pressure from chewing, and they can be used on either front or back teeth.
It generally takes longer for us to place a composite filling than it does a metal filling. That’s because composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry while the cavity is being filled. Tooth-colored fillings are now used more often than amalgam or gold fillings, in part because they cosmetically blend with the natural color of your teeth.
Prevention is always the best medicine though. Our goal is to help you avoid fillings in the first place. You can dramatically decrease your risk of developing cavities and other dental diseases by committing to the following routine:
- Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
- Floss daily.
- Eat a balanced diet.
- Visit us regularly for exams and cleanings.
